Mercury borrows Daddy’s blanket and pillow and gets comfy for the night

Mercury was diagnosed with KCS this week by his vet, Dr. Falck. His right eye tested at 14 but his left eye barely registered 2. Poor little guy. He had no eye troubles up until 3 months ago when he injured his eye since then he has had continual problems with the eye. He currently has another ulcer on his left eye and is being treated for it.

Once his eye is healed he will begin Optimmune treatment. He will need treatment for this for the rest of his life. Luckily he is really good about letting me put stuff in his eye, maybe it’s the kisses and hugs I give him afterwards that make him sit so quiet while I treat him.

After such a hard week he really needed some love, cuddles and snuggles so Daddy is happily sharing his blanket and pillow with our precious baby boy.

Do Your Pugs Punish YOU?

  • Posted on April 8, 2015 at 10:59 pm

My Pugs are very upset with me. My husband and I had to go out for most of the day. To the Pugs this translates into: we had to go to prison for the day and it’s Mommies fault. Why is it ALWAYS my fault? Any little issue with their day and I get the blame. Daddy is never to blame even though most of the time it’s his fault.

At the moment Miss Callie is not speaking to me. She is snuggled up in the bed with her beloved Daddy. All I am getting from her is the occasional glare. How dare I go out and take daddy with me! I tried to explain it wasn’t my fault we had to got out but she says I am just trying to switch the blame. HER Daddy would never ever leave her in prison for the whole day. I even brought home part of my steak for her! Still she refuses to give me snuggles. You know you are in trouble when even after steak a Pug won’t forgive and forget.

The other Pugs will forgive me and come get pats but only if I bribe them with treats. Well all the other Pugs except Mercury. Mercury is my little mushy face Mamas boy. He woofed at me when I let him out of their room but forgave me promptly when I fed him and decided he would grace me with his snores in exchange for a treat.

In your family is it always your fault when your Pugs world is not perfection from their point of view?

What creative ways do they come up with to punish you?

Happy New Year! Better Late Than Never Right?

  • Posted on January 18, 2015 at 5:17 am

Sorry I disappeared on everyone back in November. I did a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend festival called Christkindlemarkt. I did unfortunately get the flu during the festival. YIPEE what’s more fun than doing a festival in 40 degree temperatures? Why doing it with the flu of course! I even got the flu shot back in October, it’s so unfair that I still got sick.

So anyway back to the festival weekend one, aka Thanksgiving weekend, it was a great success. By Sunday I was so sick I had lost my voice and was communicating via hand signals. That didn’t stop the sales though so YAY. I spent most of the week between the shows coughing, moaning, whining and sleeping with as much studio time as I could handle squeezed in.

The second weekend of the festival was also a success so I am a happy artist. Still sick I move on in  December to gallery and studio sales. Everything sells like crazy I just wish I could have enjoyed it more. I get my last order of the season the day before my daughter arrives for the holidays and ship it out the day after. Then it’s time to put the closed sign up on Pugaboo for the remained of the year.

Spent a lovely week with her even though it rained pretty much the entire time. I still had a cough and was really tired but definitely on the road to recovery. The Pugs  were ecstatic to have her here to play with since it had been a whole year since they last saw her. My daughter returned home and the New Year Arrived.

HAPPY NEW YEAR LITTLE PUGGIES AND THEIR PARENTS! May your year be all that you hope it to be!

New Years resolutions: Double my sales and lose weight (not exactly original on that one but hey I’m a girl)

First week of January brings about the yearly planning workshop for the board of the Helen Arts and Heritage Center of which I am one of. Lots of hard work and planning is accomplished by all unfortunately no new art was created by me as I haven’t quite figured out how to duplicate myself yet.

Then it’s on to my birthday… Bummer… Spent it waiting on the cable guy. January birthdays are the worst everybody is partied and gifted out so its pretty much awful and depressing. I spent the rest of the week getting ready for the tax man, oh yay I had to toss that in too didn’t I? The Pugs say they hate bookkeeping and frankly I agree with them. But my books are up to date and waiting for the official forms to arrive so I can file. 2014 looks like it was an okay year art sales wise.

Oh and I forgot January also means Insurances… Got my health insurance taken care of (ugh almost need medical care just to figure that out) and am working on getting my house and car insurance updated. Being an artist can make house insurance kind of tricky so had to find a good knowledgable agent and answer a bazillion questions. Looks like she came through AND saved me some money off my old policy… Miracles do happen! The Pugs say… saved money? Does that mean we get MORE COOKIES? Hmm they are fat enough already oops I should have said they are chubby and fluffy enough already. Pugs don’t do fat they just get fluffier… Ask any Pug and that’s the answer you will get.

We are only halfway through January and I am ready for this month to be over. Maybe February will be better, though the one year anniversary of my Dads passing is in February so maybe not. Silver linning though… We all survived the year without him so maybe it won’t be such a hard month after all.

With all that oh so fun stuff going on I haven’t had much time to get into the studio and create new stuff. Now that the boring parts are over hopefully I can get to the fun stuff like making new Pug sculptures and other items. I have added a couple dozen items to my etsy shop so if you have time be sure to check it out, you can see a small assortment here on my websites etsy page but to get the full catalog you’ll have to go to etsy itself. A couple items sold in just a few hours which was great! Don’t forget Valentines Day is coming up and who wouldn’t love a new Pug necklace for that right?

Stay tuned for what I hope will be a wonderful year! The Pugs want you to know that they will endeavor to be as adorable as possible.

Is It Really November Already?

  • Posted on November 4, 2014 at 3:31 am

The last month I recall clearly was August… How did November get moved to the month after August? I guess it might have something to do with all the festivals and pottery production I have been having to do.

My next festival is Thaksgiving weekend. It’s a holiday themed show so I will need ornaments, small gift type items, ornaments, and oh ornaments. I guess it’s time to gear up ornament creation. I have some clay ones drying and awaiting their decoration already but I really need to find a place to set up and make some more of the pewter ones that everybody has liked in the past. The issue is it has to be a completely dust free area which counts out the studio because of the clay dust. I guess Ill have to see if my husband notices when I take over the dining room too. Hmmm could be a problem part of the agreement to get a dedicated studio when we moved here was that the art supplies and projects would stay out of the rest of the house. Maybe just this once he won’t notice… What do you think?

since the holidays are here I have started listing ornaments in the ebay auctions this week along with some lovely gift type items.

Gaia has a Great Day

  • Posted on November 4, 2014 at 3:22 am

This morning I had a board meeting at the art center. I usually take the adult Pugs downstairs and let them play in the studio and their room while I am gone. This morning all five Pugs decided to follow me downstairs. Even Callie, little Miss I don’t do floors came down. I gathered up my stuff and left.

When I returned home several hours later four of the five were still downstairs cuddled up and sleeping together in one of the beds. Looking around I didn’t see Gaia and figured she was off doing her rounds or something.

I went upstairs and found nobody. Hmmmm where is the hubby and my Gaia Girl? Continue on up to the third floor. Whew … Whose idea was it to buy a three-story house? Arrive up up stairs and walk into my husbands playroom and find him and one very happy Gaia sleeping in his chair together. They looked so cute. He would have killed me if I took a picture though so you will just have to take my word for it.

I wake them up and pick up Gaia and her tail is wagging so hard it’s nearly impossible to hold her.  I guess she enjoyed her day with Daddy all to herself since everybody else decided to stay downstairs in the studio and wait for me to get home.
