Sorry I disappeared on everyone back in November. I did a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend festival called Christkindlemarkt. I did unfortunately get the flu during the festival. YIPEE what’s more fun than doing a festival in 40 degree temperatures? Why doing it with the flu of course! I even got the flu shot back in October, it’s so unfair that I still got sick.
So anyway back to the festival weekend one, aka Thanksgiving weekend, it was a great success. By Sunday I was so sick I had lost my voice and was communicating via hand signals. That didn’t stop the sales though so YAY. I spent most of the week between the shows coughing, moaning, whining and sleeping with as much studio time as I could handle squeezed in.
The second weekend of the festival was also a success so I am a happy artist. Still sick I move on in December to gallery and studio sales. Everything sells like crazy I just wish I could have enjoyed it more. I get my last order of the season the day before my daughter arrives for the holidays and ship it out the day after. Then it’s time to put the closed sign up on Pugaboo for the remained of the year.
Spent a lovely week with her even though it rained pretty much the entire time. I still had a cough and was really tired but definitely on the road to recovery. The Pugs were ecstatic to have her here to play with since it had been a whole year since they last saw her. My daughter returned home and the New Year Arrived.
HAPPY NEW YEAR LITTLE PUGGIES AND THEIR PARENTS! May your year be all that you hope it to be!
New Years resolutions: Double my sales and lose weight (not exactly original on that one but hey I’m a girl)
First week of January brings about the yearly planning workshop for the board of the Helen Arts and Heritage Center of which I am one of. Lots of hard work and planning is accomplished by all unfortunately no new art was created by me as I haven’t quite figured out how to duplicate myself yet.
Then it’s on to my birthday… Bummer… Spent it waiting on the cable guy. January birthdays are the worst everybody is partied and gifted out so its pretty much awful and depressing. I spent the rest of the week getting ready for the tax man, oh yay I had to toss that in too didn’t I? The Pugs say they hate bookkeeping and frankly I agree with them. But my books are up to date and waiting for the official forms to arrive so I can file. 2014 looks like it was an okay year art sales wise.
Oh and I forgot January also means Insurances… Got my health insurance taken care of (ugh almost need medical care just to figure that out) and am working on getting my house and car insurance updated. Being an artist can make house insurance kind of tricky so had to find a good knowledgable agent and answer a bazillion questions. Looks like she came through AND saved me some money off my old policy… Miracles do happen! The Pugs say… saved money? Does that mean we get MORE COOKIES? Hmm they are fat enough already oops I should have said they are chubby and fluffy enough already. Pugs don’t do fat they just get fluffier… Ask any Pug and that’s the answer you will get.
We are only halfway through January and I am ready for this month to be over. Maybe February will be better, though the one year anniversary of my Dads passing is in February so maybe not. Silver linning though… We all survived the year without him so maybe it won’t be such a hard month after all.
With all that oh so fun stuff going on I haven’t had much time to get into the studio and create new stuff. Now that the boring parts are over hopefully I can get to the fun stuff like making new Pug sculptures and other items. I have added a couple dozen items to my etsy shop so if you have time be sure to check it out, you can see a small assortment here on my websites etsy page but to get the full catalog you’ll have to go to etsy itself. A couple items sold in just a few hours which was great! Don’t forget Valentines Day is coming up and who wouldn’t love a new Pug necklace for that right?
Stay tuned for what I hope will be a wonderful year! The Pugs want you to know that they will endeavor to be as adorable as possible.
